The Philodendron Spiritus Sancti is the holy grail of a plant collection, because this Philodendron is extremely rare! In its original habitat, in the state of Espirito Santo near the city of Domingos Martins in Brazil, only a few specimens remain.
This plant is extremely rare. The heavenly Philodendron Spiritus Sancti immediately catches the eye in the room. It has beautiful oblong green leaves and is currently hardly available anywhere. We managed to get hold of this beauty, because it is one of the rarest and most special plants you can get at the moment. However, this does make it a plant with a slightly higher price tag.
The leaves of this fantastic Philodendron Spiritus Sancti can become enormous, with a length between 50 and 75 centimetres and a width of around 10 centimetres. They have a dark green and dull colour, but the veins are light-coloured, a wonderful contrast. When fully grown, they have a beautiful shape, which is often compared to rabbit ears. The leafstalks can reach a length of between 30 and 60 centimetres.
With four lateral veins in the leaf and an elongated, triangular shape, the plant resembles Philodendron atabapoense. However, the Spiritus Sancti has a more appealing shape. And moreover, this is a collector's item in the plant world. The expectation of many plant connoisseurs is that this plant will not ever be found in an 'ordinary' garden centre. It is too rare and too special for that.
Under the right conditions, this beautiful Philodendron Spiritus Sancti can produce between 1 and 3 new leaves per month during the growing season. This plant does not make extreme demands on humidity, as long as there is a constant level of humidity. Nor does it make any special demands on temperature, as long as it is between 18 and 25 °C degrees and above all constant. This Philodendron does not need any extra nutrition either.
In natural conditions, the plant lives in an air humidity of, on average, slightly lower than 80%. But according to experts, this plant can also be kept in a living room with an average humidity of 50-70%.
