Description:
The Paraiso Verde can temporarily lose its variety during transport in a dark box. Therefore we advise to put this plant in a lighter place with a lot of indirect sunlight and in a place with high humidity. The variation will slowly return in the leaves.
This Philodendron Paraiso Verde has elongated leaves with green and yellow spots and belongs to the arum family (Araceae). A nickname for this plant is also 'Marina Ruy Barbosa'. Pariaso Verde' is Spanish for 'green paradise'.
It is believed that this plant originated in a private Brazilian collection, yet very little is known about it. But wherever it comes from, it has won the hearts of many plant lovers and collectors. With its beautiful leaf shape and very special colours, this is no surprise.
The pattern in the leaves changes with the seasons. This means that the plant turns completely green in the autumn, because there is less light then. However, in spring, when there is more light present, the plant will return to its beautiful pattern with variations in the leaf. This makes the plant unique and special, besides the fact that it is a very rare plant.
The plant is a fast grower, so it matures quickly, which means that it can grow to a height of around 40 centimetres when properly supported.
Given that this fantastic plant comes from the rainforest, it likes a humidity of between 55% and 75% and an environment with a temperature of between 15° and 30°C degrees. Plants in general prefer constant environmental conditions. When the temperature or humidity fluctuates too much, a plant can suffer from pests such as spider mites or thrips.
