The paphiopedilum Charlesworthii "Compact type" has a special and typical flower. The orchid is not only easy to keep and take care of in our living room climate, but is also very nice to see. This rare plant is very compact and can get 1 to 2 prominent flowers in bloom. This version does not have to be very large for that, because they are already able to bloom beautifully in a relatively small size.
This orchid would rather be a little more off the window in indirect sunlight than an average phalaenopsis orchid. In addition, it helps to put a fans with the plant, because they love moving air.
In the summer this paph likes to be warm with day temperatures around 24 degrees Celsius. In the night it can cool to an 18 degree Celsius. On the other hand, this orchid loves a cooler winter. During the day around 20 degrees and at night it can even cool to 10 degrees Celsius. Due to this greater difference in temperature, the flowering is even better stimulated.
In the summer this orchid likes a high humidity of 80-85%, but in the winter this may drop to 50-55%. The latter is often an average living room. Make sure that the air does not get too dry in the winter. In the summer the humidity will have to be kept artificially high.
In the winter the plant can be a bit drier for 1-2 months. Then they can dry a little more at the roots. But immediately when they are almost dry, water can be given again.
This species cannot do well against accumulated minerals and salts. So rinse the substrate once a month with rainwater.
