Description:
The fact that the plant can get yellow spots is in the DNA of this plant. So this plant can get more yellow spots in the new leaves. With the right care and conditions, the plant can produce new leaves with yellow spots. The Rare Monstera adansonii Variegated Aurea will develop more pigment in the variegation as the leaves age. So the yellow should develop in the leaves. After a month the yellow will be more visible than before.
This is an extremely rare variety of the Monstera adansonii: The Monstera adansonii Variegated Aurea. Like most Monsteras, this plant is a climbing plant and with the right guidance (e.g. by a moss stick) can climb up with its air roots.
Just like the Monstera deliciosa Variegata, this plant also has mottled leaves, only these are yellow and green! The beautiful yellow spots make this plant much, much rarer than most Monstera Variegata plants. Let alone the fact that it is also an adansonii makes it very special.
In the rainforest, leaves of this plant can grow up to 45 centimetres long! This plant likes a room with higher humidity, such as the bathroom or a terrarium. Please note that there must be a window in this room, because the plant likes to stand in a slightly lighter place than the ordinary Monstera adansonii.
We therefore recommend that you put the plant in a slightly lighter place with normal to higher humidity. This is because the plant originally comes from a rain forest. With higher humidity, the plant always feels better and will grow better. In a dryer environment, using a humidifier is therefore a good option. This plant does not like being in a cold room! The plant also needs more sunlight than the ordinary adansonii, because it produces fewer chloroplasts due to the yellow spots in its leaves.
As far as watering is concerned, this plant likes regular care (watering once a week). The plant likes a slightly moist soil, but not wet soil. In summer, you can water the plant a little more than in winter. In the period that the plant is growing (March to October), you can give it some extra plant food twice a week. It is also advisable to replace the potting compost every year.
Despite the fact that the common adansonii is a fairly easy plant to keep, this version is a little more sensitive because of the yellow spots.
